The doctor at the hospital said he gets a gold medal for best foal she's ever worked with and the students all fell in love. It's hard not to with this sweet boy.
Poor Salem is having a hard time, he had milk coming out of his nose, so we took him to the CSU Vet Teaching Hospital. After running some tests and using different imaging methods we found that his nursing technique wasn't quite right, causing him to get milk into his lungs. So we have taken him off of his mother, and put him in an adjacent stall and removed some of the boards so he can still see his mom whenever he wants. But can't nurse from her. He'll be getting a mare's milk replacer for another couple months until he is fully switched over to hay and equine junior feed.
