About Us
Gentle Gypsies is the dream turned reality for Charleen Lamphere. Born in Virginia, a military brat she was always obsessed with animals. Her favorite being horses, no matter where she lived, she was always searching for a place to ride. Charleen always knew she would work with animals when she grew up, but it wasn't until she was 11, watching Cavalia that she had her revelation that horses were her true passion. Gypsies had been her favorite breed for some time due to their beautiful hair, strong bodies, variety, and most of all, their amazing temperaments.
Charleen has worked hard and experienced so much to get her where she is now. She has gotten a bachelor's of science in Equine Science from Colorado State University, worked in equestrian shows such as Gladius, and dabbled in every riding style she had the opportunity to. These range from vaulting to jousting, and competing in English dressage to training cutting horses. When she is not caring for the gypsy herd, she works in the Equine Medicine department of the CSU Vet Teaching Hospital. She is dedicated to ensuring quality in the gypsy breed in more than just conformation. Temperament was very important in the creation of the gypsy breed and Charleen intends to ensure that wonderful quality in all the foals that come from Gentle Gypsies. |
